Basically, you can use the myCloud Desktop Client as a backup. However, we would like to mention that the myCloud Desktop Client was not primarily designed for backups. Rather, the idea behind it is the synchronization and thus the guaranteed continual updating of data.
The difference between a backup client and a synchronization client such as myCloud Desktop Client is that a backup client copies the files only in one direction (from the source to the destination), while during synchronization, files are copied in both directions (from the source to the target and from the target to the source) and are thus synchronized.
myCloud Desktop was designed to synchronize files between myCloud and multiple devices. As a user, you can thus access your files from anywhere and have a backup of this data at any time. This concept is based on established solutions such as Microsoft OneDrive or Dropbox.
